Ibanez is one of the largest companies, worldwide, for making guitars and effects, for over half a century. They are renowned for their high quality instruments and affordable pricing. Their mandolin line is no exception.

A mandolin is a stringed instrument that has eight strings and is tuned in perfect fifths like a violin (G, D, A, E). It has four rows of doubled strings, a total of eight strings, all tuned in sync.

Mandolins come in several different body styles. Ibanez uses mainly traditional designs and shapes. Most Ibanez mandolins have A-style or F-style bodies, with a compact construction. A-style mandolins have a simple design, and are more comfortable and accessible.

F-style mandolins have a durable construction, which produces a high-quality sound. F-style mandolins are  more expensive than others.

Mandolins have a body that acts as a resonator, attached to a neck. The bridge is in contact with the soundboard, due to the downward pressure of the strings. Sound is produced, when the soundboard vibrates, from the action of the strings, on the bridge.

When plucked rapidly, the mandolin’s paired strings, create a full and continuous sound. With doubled strings, sound vibrates out, with sustain, unlike the sound of single strings. Modern designs and amplification techniques, bring out the volume of a mandolin, making it louder than other instruments.

This 8 string, A style,  mandolin has a spruce top, brass strings , and chrome tuning machines. It delivers a clean, rich sound. The magnetic pickup can be adjusted, for setting the bass and treble. The volume is not very loud, and you will need to use amps and effects to increase the volume.

Ibanez’ folk line contains high-quality instruments, that combine classic craftsmanship and sophisticated modern technology to create authentic, inspiring, great-sounding and easy-playing instruments that authoritatively produce the sound of classic American acoustic music. The M700AVS is an arch top F-style mandolin with a Solid Spruce top and Solid Flamed Maple back and sides. This finely crafted mandolin features incredible procection for soloing and chopping. The F-Style is the standard for bluegrass and is renowned for its punchy presence and full, bouyant tone for single-string lead lines.
