Masterworks guitars are solid, reliable instruments, for active musicians. These high quality guitars were designed for both, the stage and the studio. Masterworks are carefully voiced with a forward shifted x-brace and detailed scalloping to the tone bars.

The soundboards are made with Quartersawn wood. The process of quarter-sawing wood, requires more labor and detail, making it more expensive. The wood is cut at a radial angle into four quarters, before its run through the milling process. This produces wood with a straight grain, that is more stable and solid in strucure. The surface of the wood is much smoother, with less grain. There is less expansion and contraction across the wood, and it will stay flat, over time.
Its also resistant to twisting, cupping, and warping. The final result is a quality wood, with a distinctive appearance. Alvarez Masterworks guitars are designed to have less thickness, and height, because of the quartersawn wood. The guitar has less vibration and a quick response. Each guitar is carefully sanded and painted. The detailed finish is a thin but high gloss finish.

Alvarez Masterworks Series guitars are a great value. The guitar is built from all solid wood, which means its not laminated. Their specifications meet the highest standards in production, yet it is available at an affordable price.
Each guitar is designed to get the best out if its components, and for them to work together. These components include our FST2 bracing system, bi-level rosewood /Pau Ferro extended bridge, real bone nut and saddle, carefully seasoned tonewood and a thin finish.
FST2 is a forward shifted X brace design, this means the axis of the X is closer to the sound hole and therefore creates a larger soundboard area allowing for more energy and vibration to be harnessed. Both the X braces and asymmetric tone bars are carefully scalloped. The scalloping design was the result of years of continual development in our Yairi workshops.
The Masterworks personality is open and powerful. FST2 also creates very good balance so both the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. All of our tops are selected by our team and graded independently of our suppliers. If it isn’t worthy, we won’t use it. Top quality in Masterworks is at least AA grade.
Featuring an angled headstock, and a bi-level bridge, for increased string tension. The added tension give a fuller sound, feel and response. The headstock has a real bone nut and saddles.
