Shavo Odajian is a musician, song-writer, producer and DJ. He is mostly known as the bass player from the band System Of A Down. He also plays bass for the group, North Kingsley.

Shavo doesn’t see himself as a technical bass player. He plays in sync with the drumming, to create his riffs. His sound is unique, due to the way he tunes his bass strings. He plays in Drop C tuning, but instead of tuning down his strings, he uses different string gauges and tunes them up to C.

Shavo’s creative skills extend far beyond the bass. He directed most of the SOAD videos and live shows, a Bad Brains video, and the trailer for the Mortal Kombat video game.

He worked with the RZA, of the Wu Tang Clan, to create the musical alliance, AcHoZeN. They collaborated with many  legendary funk, rock and hip hop artists, to create an emotional experience through fluid beats and live instruments. The music was used as the score for Babylon A.D., a major motion picture. Shavo wrote and composed 8 songs for the movie’s soundtrack. 

He has appeared in  cameos in a few films, and starred in the  documentary, “Screamers”. He also enjoys painting abstract art. He designed most of the album, video and concert artwork for SOAD. His paintings became the visual backdrop for their performance in Ozzfest 2006.
